Deposit and Final Payment

To reserve a Gate 1 tour, a non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. Exact deposit amounts and final due dates differ according to region of travel and type of travel, and can be determined by using the chart below.

Some special events (such as Rio de Janeiro New Year's and Carnival, and all packages featuring Ecuador) may require earlier payment. You will be advised at the time of reservation.

Gate 1 Travel accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards.

Gate 1 reserves the right to cancel the reservation if payments are not received within the specified periods.

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation and refund policies vary, with penalties increasing as the departure date approaches. If cancellation in writing is received, Gate 1 will assess the following penalties:

Cancellation penalties may differ for special events (such as New Year and Carnival) and will be advised at time of booking.

"Departure day" is considered the date Gate 1 services begin.

Cancellation charges apply to extra nights prior to and after the tour. Flight changes after deposit is received or flight cancellations after tickets are issued incur airline revision and airline cancellation fees. For air-inclusive tours cancelled after receipt of tickets, refunds will be processed after return of tickets. Optional tours cannot be refunded after purchase.

Escorted tour packages are based upon a minimum number of participants. Cancellation of any tour for lack of participation will be advised at least 30 days prior to the tour's departure, and all money will be refunded. Gate 1 Travel will not be held responsible for any costs relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets or visa fees. On China and South America escorted tours, a minimum of 10 passengers is required. Whenever there are less than 10 passengers, tours will be locally hosted. Southeast Asia tours are guaranteed to depart with a minimum of two passengers. Voluntary cancellations due to political instability, acts of terrorism, government intervention or US State Department warning will be subject to the above fees, provided the program is deemed (by Gate 1 Travel) able to continue. Should Gate 1 elect to cancel a departure for any of these reasons, every effort will be made to obtain refunds from suppliers, however no guarantees can be provided.

A handling fee of $50 per revision, plus expenses imposed by suppliers, will be charged for any alterations or revisions. Spelling corrections to clients' names after air tickets have been issued are subject to airline revision fees. Courier delivery costs will also apply if any changes are necessary within five weeks prior to tour departure. A change of tour date or tour itinerary will be treated as a cancellation and new booking; regular cancellation fees apply.

Timetables and rates are subject to change, and exceptions may apply for holiday departures; please confirm payment and cancellation policies with your Vacations To Go travel counselor at time of booking. Deposit, payment and cancellation terms may differ for group bookings.
